Agriculture and Biofuels
As a consequence of rising global CO2 levels, scrutiny of industrial activity contributing to this increase has focused attention on bio-based opportunities to achieve economic benefits with environmental integrity. Agriculture, forestry, and bio-products (including biofuels, biochemicals and biomaterials) increasingly are seen as targets for investment by developers of clean technology and by originators of GHG reduction credits. Land use and land use change, including avoided deforestation and protected grasslands and wetlands, are also increasingly considered as strategies for GHG mitigation.
Innovative bio-based technologies have the potential to create double dividend benefits in both the clean tech and the GHG credit sectors.
ClimateCHECK contributes to the evaluation of technology systems designed to generate bioenergy and bioproducts. Recent efforts include the assessment of a multi-component process designed to convert various agricultural, industrial, and municipal wastes into renewable energy and organic soil amendments. Other engagements address opportunities for production and use of various biofuels. Because of ClimateCHECK’s understanding of biological processes and systems, these opportunities are assessed from a comprehensive ecological and “double dividend” perspective.
ClimateCHECK actively contributes to the development of GHG reduction protocols for bio-based sectors. This includes commodity sectors (dairy, pork) as well as land use and land use change activities (tillage, crop input use, perennial cover establishment, wetland restoration). In these engagements, ClimateCHECK has demonstrated experience and expertise in compiling scientific knowledge to achieve GHG reduction and removal protocols of premium integrity.
"Based on ClimateCHECK’s major accomplishments in authoring some of the most pivotal standards in this market, I’d recommend ClimateCHECK as a top tier service and solutions provider for every step in the carbon commodity and GHG management process."
