Tom Baumann
Chief Executive Officer
Tom started working in the environmental industry in 1992 and has advanced through progressively senior roles in the public, nonprofit and private sectors. Tom has established and managed many expert teams, and led the development of international best practice standards and organizations. In 1998 Tom entered the climate change and clean technology markets performing techno-economic GHG models, strategic studies and market research on clean technology companies and for public policy. During his work with a public sector clean tech investment fund with a portfolio of 140 clean technology projects with a total investment of more than $1.2 billion, Tom “set the standard” as the lead author of ISO 14064 Part 2 used to quantify carbon offset credits by governments and markets, including the Voluntary Carbon Standard. Tom led the development of the North American Climate Change Services unit for Det Norske Veritas and performed CDM validations and global GHG inventory verifications. Tom co-founded the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute as a nonprofit delivering world class e-learning GHG training to individuals and organizations globally. In 2007 Tom co-founded ClimateCHECK Corporation as a leading services and solutions company in North America with staff located in Ottawa, Calgary, Toronto, San Francisco and Boston.
